Barrel/Pit firing is a native firing process which dates back to 29,000 bc making it the oldest firing technique known to man. This magical unglazed ceramic process creates one of a kind works of art that can never be repeated, giving way to endless possibilities, by the fact that the pieces seem to be created by nature itself.

All the colours and markings you can see on the surface of the goddess vessel's were created within a Barrel, where-by the vessels have been nestled within combustible materials and embalmed with various organic materials and metals, and then burnt for up to 48 hours.
When the organic matter sets-alight, atmospheric affects will then take place through vaporisation of the organic materials and metals, which with encouragement from a healthy air flow will swirl and seep into the clays molten porous body, creating arrays of unique patterns and layers upon layers of jewel like colours, eternalising natures touch onto the surface if the vessel.

The Earth mother statuettes were Inspired by ancient Venus fertility figurines that date back to 30,000bc which makes them some of the earliest figurative art to be discovered to date! 

Created by our distant ancestors in a lost time where we were bound to land and conncted deeply with eachother and nature Many different versions of these figurines were discovered in settlements all around europe even as far as siberia they were thought to be created for many reasons including good luck  totems manifestation tools fertility charms self portraiture and offerings One of the most curious mysteries may be that they were created during a time where it was near impossible to travel across seas to distant lands yet collectivley we were all creating these palm sized feminine fertility figurines... some food for thought.
